America’s Death Star

No, you read that correctly:The United States of America may soon be the proud owner of its very own Death Star. Confused? Allow me to explain.

In September 2011, the White House launched We the People – an online petition site designed to be an easy way for American’s to gather and express support for popular initiatives. According to White House policy, any petition that gains over 25,000 signatures will be given an official response by the Obama Administration. Well, a couple of days ago, a petition for America to build a Death Star reached that threshold. Given the publicity this has been getting, I wouldn’t be surprised to see this thing reach 6-digits…and I cannot WAIT to read what will undoubtedly be a hilarious response from the White House.

Now that I am aware of this, expect follow-up posts in the future covering other ridiculous and awesome petitions on the site. Hot damn, I love America.
